The birth of a new apprentice

Today I went up to visit with [livejournal.com profile] wilfulcait and she convinced me it would be a good day to learn how to play with glass. We lit up the big torch, donned safety glasses and a cool leather apron and these are the results of my first efforts .. I'm so pleased.

*clickety, clickety on the picture if you want to see more*

The green & yellow bead on the left was my first, the purple with white my 2nd bead, the third bead was crimson and yellow and did not survive and the last bead was a solid red with a black overlay and it also did not make it - but still pleased as punch with my first efforts.

Also, I think this is the beginning of a real apprenticeship with [livejournal.com profile] wilfulcait. Scared? Yup, a bit, .... Excited?.... you bet!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet ... this was my first try and my girlfriend lives about 40 minutes from me, so it's not just a pop-around-the-corner thing.

If I can make a matching set of beads, I will certainly consider making you earrings!

Well I am a HUGE sucker for glass beads, and your first are already gorgeous. I have been looking for green earrings to go with my green pendant (emerald green, like the one you made, not teal, with any color mixed in) and having something handmade by a friend makes things so special. So if you feel like tackling a project on commission someday, lemme know. I am in no hurry.
