Happy things

Sometime around the middle of August I was looking for this book "Colman", and the cheapest paperback copy I could find was about $75. Well ... it showed up on Amazon the other day for slightly less than $20 and I grabbed it. It arrived this morning :-)

Also, in the happy making for less than $5 - cotton rainbow colored yarn from the evil empire, I mean Walmart. Dude, I think there's a new scarf in the near future. I'm also interested in learning how to knit socks .. anyone out there be willing to teach me. I'll bribe suitably ... mebbe dinner?

I'm thinking after a long hiatus, [livejournal.com profile] lapsedagnostic and I might be considering the return of "Bad B movie night" at our place. Interest? Bueller?

The Body for Life challenge I'm on seems to be working. I'm down a little in my weight and my cardio and weight lifting has gone up. I post about it on a separate filter and in the lj community [livejournal.com profile] fast_together that I started.

I spent the weekend with my loves and getting to see my friends and be social.

Yay, it Tuesday! What's new with y'all?

Bad Movie Night? Hellz yes! We used to do those at our house back-in-the-day ...

[identity profile] bittibuddha.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
hey... what do you think about a rotating schedule of movie nights in various locales around the area?

first Monday?
second tuesday?
third wednesday?
fourth thursday?

and wotnot? we could have four different locations around the area so people could come to whichever is easiest to get to for them on school nights in a no-pressure environment?

ooh! we could even set up a google calendar. and have theme nights.

oh lord, please stop me before i go crazy with this, but I swear the threat of company is the only real way i clean my house properly.

it was great to see you again this weekend and get another hug and if possible i'd love bad B movie nights

also i didn't tell you but last time i saw you at the club a couple weeks ago i didn't even know you were there, hadn't seen you in a long time, but when you came up behind me and hugged me i instantly knew it was you without even being able to see you yet, you have such great energy ;)

PS...if you ever had any interest in doing a cutting with me i'd love to talk about it with you

Bad movie nights are always great. :)

You already know how to knit, no? If so, socks are easy, just a bit tedious if you don't like or aren't used to small guage knitting. I can send you some links, or maybe a knitters revival could be in the making. :) I'm not sure about Bad B movies, but I'd love the impetus to get back to knitting - I haven't done anything serious since before Evan was born!

If [livejournal.com profile] ani_moore gets her way and locations rotate, I would likely be interested. Sounds like fun! :^D

Conceptually I think I could do socks. I haven't quite figured it all out yet though.

Some sock tutorials http://www.purlbee.com/socks-for-giving

Might find another at Lion Brand yarns.

I want to come to bad B movie night.
And yes, it is the Evil Empire.

Sock Knitting

The best all-around book on sock knitting I've found is Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch. THis one is totally a winner, and has "The Class Sock" that takes you through all the techniques one by one. Most of knitting a sock is knitting around and around in circles. It's the heel and toe that's a bit more challenging.

But, once you understand the basic concepts involved you can make lots of really pretty & interesting socks. what I love about this particular book is that she makes it really easy for you to mix and match your yarn, needles, foot sizes and patterns.

Basically, just trust the pattern and follow the directions when it comes to the heel... it will work :)

I would definitely be interested in a bad movie night :-) Or good movie night :-) Or anything else non-club-perhaps-family-friendly-active-and-social type thing :)

Thank you again for [livejournal.com profile] fast_together, it's a big big help to me!
