Sometimes somebody shares something and you wonder

And you wonder how you managed to miss this. This morning a friend posted on his FB feed this "
My grandfather David, in the last few years of his life, would shed tears of joy at the simplest things like holding his great grand children, or the utterance of kind words. He'd wipe the tears and tell everyone that he had a condition after his heart surgery, with a warm smile on his face. I haven't had heart surgery but find my self in the same predicament, tearing up at the slightest display of human kindness. Thank you grandpa for this genetic defect of heart. I miss you.
"

I commented I seem to have this same condition and I am prone to frequent bouts of tearing up or crying .... and then someone posted this interview with one of my favorite authors Maurice Sendak in the comments. Watch it, really.

On our way

We are on the road now. Travelling down 95 at what seems like light speed. I know Widgeon is anxious to get there & start fresh. But I know she paused a couple of times this morning to collect herself.
I paused this morning too. Paused at the door of her room & looked at my sleeping girl for just a moment. I tousled her hair and whispered "wake up pretty girl..." like I've done so many times before. We shared tea one more time amidst all the bustle of packing this morning. Q and I have looked at each other a few times and not said anything....there's no need, we know what the other is thinking and feeling.

I know she going to do great. But oh... We are going to miss her so very much.
