It happens every year

It's that time again ... you know where I run off to take over the world ...I mean venture off to War...Pennsic War. With any luck I will walk familiar roads, lounge in exotic places (thanks to Your Inner Vagabond) & sip magical drinks, renew acquaintances, find the best bargains, spend oodles of time with people I love, play cards and drink at a fine Pub, and bellydance until I'm sore.

The last of the sewing was finished yesterday. I have a couple of handsewing things to keep me occupied during down time (Bwahahaha .. did I say down time?!). Last night [livejournal.com profile] camperamy was a total love and came over to help me get most of the garb packed. There are 5 plastic bins and one trunk and outfits that still don't have a home in a container. Last night involved making more lists of things I hope I don't forget. Today's adventures will include braving the wild state of my garage and finding all the camping boxes and (hopefully) paring them down into something more manageable.

As with the last 2 years I'm going through some weird reverse-insomnia where I'm waking up earlier and earlier every day. I can't even begin to tell you how aggravating it is - I'm so bloody tired all the time. Yesterday and today it's been in between 5:30 and 6:15, although I managed to force myself to doze this morning 'til 6:20.

Widgeon will be home tomorrow and finshing her packing. She's so excited she can hardly stand it. The little girls are also really excited for Pennsic this year and have all given me the hairy eyeball for getting to go a week earlier than them. Of course this week, when I really need to be packing ... they want to go to the pool or library or something every day and it's hard to find the time. Eh .. I guess it will all get done as it has in previous years.

I am really looking forward to Yay-cation as my friend [livejournal.com profile] quicktongue calls it! The weather looks to be decent ... mid 80's. The only iffy thing is there might be some thunderstorms on Land Grab day.... please don body paint and go out on your front lawn and do a 'sunny weekend' dance for us iffin's you don't mind. Kthanks!

I hear these stories year after year, and I've never been: there've been rehearsals every summer until now, and now I'm all the way down in Florida (not to mention family issues that need me, so it couldn't've happened anyway.

But someday, I will go to Pennsic.

YAAAAY-CATION!!

omg. are you gonna pack cold=weather stuff? I really really REALLY don't want to, but now I'm beginning to second guess myself.

Always be prepared for cold weather at Pennsic.
Even if it is just one night. You won't regret it.

I always include a couple of sweatshirts and sweat pants.

DAMNIT! this means repacking the already full-to-bursting BINS!

Grab a duffel bag and throw in a few hings you can layer under your other stuff.

Or plan on snuggling close to the ones you love for warmth. ;-)

i was wondering this afternoon as i was sweating my ass off in traffic if the war is going to throw us some 50degree nights - i have seen frost on the grass at war, you just never ever know - last year makes one want to just wear wet gauze and rain boots

Okay, so I love a good pub, and clicked the link. Lots of cool info about seemingly cool folks....but no indication of _where_ it is! Is it up by the Barn somewhere? At their private camp?

Hi .. you must be new, I don't think I've seen you before (on my FL).

The Chalkman is on E-17 on the corner of Hill Rd and Good Intentions. We're all over close to I-79. The Pub is open M,W,F at dark. Beer is free, tips (and donations of beer) are always *very* appreciated.

Hello! (yeah, I followed you home from Liam's place).

E-17....so, around the lake to the causeway, and back in?

Hopefully I will find it - I look forward to meeting you.

[identity profile] make-your-move.livejournal.com 2008-07-22 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope .. that's the long way, good for a stroll, but not efficient. If you are standing out on the battlefield ... look towards the highway ... walk all the way to that road and turn right (toward the lake).

You'll go past a little dip in the road, some lovely shade and come up onto the block(s) of E-17 and E-18. E-17 block is on the left (closest to the hightway) and my camp will have a white 'real estate' sign (see icon) on our access road. If you walk just a little further (one camp) that is the corner of Hill Rd & Good Intentions and there you will find the Pub.

Looked over your website. Fun way to make a living :-) See you at War.
