We're less than a month from Pennsic and I'm seriously fighting the garb wars. I have spent the better part of last week making a gwazee coat that I have long wanted. It will be alone for a long time. The pattern, while looking easy, is an immense pain in the arse to sew. The top goes together much like a vest pattern, but trying to sew the split tails on all sides is a nightmare! If I sewed them by machine, it bunched at the "v" points and made the drape of the coat look like shite. Ended up sewing a pressing a considerable amount by hand. I'm sure there has to be an easier way of sewing this garment, perhaps I shall look into a class at War, or snag my crafting guru [livejournal.com profile] wilfulcait the next time I attempt this nightmare. That being said, I'm thrilled that it's done, and it looks damned fine if I do say so myself. Wish I had someplace to post pictures of it *sigh*

This morning's activities consisted of looking for the kids garb in *3* different places - I'm beginning to think the room that needs the clean sweep charm of [livejournal.com profile] ani_moore is the sewing room. Look at it tonight willya, darlin'? I did finally find the stack -- not in either of my large footlockers, but burried in a laundry basket behind the guest bed. My goal for the week is to get all our garb sorted my person, re-folded and packed away in the trunks so I have one less thing to worry about by "do or dye" week at the end of this month beginning of the next. My teenager A is the one in most serious need of garb... and I'm stuck between making her wench garb, and wanting to keep her in t-tunics. She's pretty, and developing my body, and I alternately want to give her a little freedom and/or keep her hidden away. Maybe I should just hire her a bodyguard.... :)

Also on my "to do" list is planning for my youngest daughter's birthday which happens in roughly 3 weeks, and prepping for my triumphant (yeah, right) return to college two days after we return from War. Then, of course, I'll have to get my kids ready for school....

Wow, summer is flying ...
