Continuing traditions ....

of clients having their babies on the 4th of July - the baby that didn't come (earlier this week) made his appearance this morning at 7:11am. Mom called me at 5:30am, got there about 6:15am, did all the requisite stuff ... things just kept moving and her son made his appearance this morning - squalling on the perineum before the rest of his body was even out!! Apgars of 9 & 9. Mom bled a bit more than i was happy with, but did just fine. A healthy baby boy, weighing in at 10lbs 2oz.

On the flip side, I unfortunately had to miss the birth of my other client who called right after I had arrived at the 1st lady's home. They were headed to the birth center. She got there at 7:15am already on her knees on the sidewalk trying not to push ... crawled up the stairs, crawled down the hall and had her son at about 7:30am. Another healthy baby boy, weighing in at about 9lbs - everyone did just great. I'm sad to have missed it, but I am thrilled for all of them :)

A nice way to start the day! Off to do bar-b-que and fireworks with friends this afternoon. Somedays I just *love* my job...
