Been a busy few days ...
Feb. 7th, 2006 09:10 amLet's see ... since our intrepid explorer last checked in... it's been quite busy. Last Thursday I was tossed out of bed with a phone call from a client. I did make it out to the birth by 11am. She labored beautifully through the early afternoon and at 5:28pm in the streaming afternoon sun, little Jasper made his debut into the world. The post-partum hours did not go as smoothly as we would like, so we spent some extra time with them and after a couple of extra hours, he was doing much better. I think I got home around midnight-thirty or so. Friday was a bit of a wash since I had been up 21 hours or so the day before.... but it was pulled from being completely blah by the mid-afternoon arrival of my hubby
lapsedagnostic who had taken the rest of the day off! Yayyyyyy.
We celebrated with a lovely nap and then we managed to get out for a sushi dinner before heading to the club for some socializing, celebrating a birthday and play :) Play with Q and RM was fun and hot :)
Saturday afternoon I had a phlebotomy class .... hmmm, bleeding people for fun and education. My poking skills are getting better and better - I managed to get both sticks on the first try, two different folks. One had veins that you can't really see, only palpate. My arms were also offered up for practice, and surprisingly enough, no resulting bruising afterwards. Not bad for a bunch of amateurs.
Later that evening I attended another birthday celebration and dinner. I tried not to stay up too late, but by the time I arrived home, it was already after midnight (again). I finally dropped into bed at 12:45am. Hadn't even gotten to sleep when the phone rang again.... it was one of my other clients calling to say her water had broken. We got to the birth center around 2:20, and we weren't there even an hour before Meridian made her entrance into the world at 3 something in the morning. Finally made it home around 7:30 that morning and promptly went to bed *blergh*.
Yesterday was spent on house stuff and tonight I'm going to Happy Hour. Provided of course, no one else has a baby today ;)
