make_your_move: (no shit sherlock)
So, it's Spring Break this week for the kids .... and as Murphy's law would have it, my overdue client is going in this morning to try and help things along (which will mostly likely mean that my traditional Tuesday night off isn't going to happen) ... *and* my youngest S has been feeling off and woke up this morning with a low-grade fever, sniffles and a headache *sigh*. And my 6 and 8 year old are full of more energy than a light bulb wondering what we can do today.

Can I just crawl back under the covers until next week?

Take 3 little girls into the kitchen - let them fuss over who gets to stand on the *two* stools. Assemble all ingredients, with multiple offers of 'let me' and 'no! that's my job' - Squeeze adult and cookbook in midst of mob. Find creative ways of splitting the multitude of steps involved in mixing up the dry and wet ingredients. Keep small fingers from scooping and licking raw batter ... finally threaten them with "no muffins" if they do it again. Get batter into cups ... let kids mix cinammon, sugar and crushed pecans and help get in into, and onto the muffins. Divide final assemblage of muffins by 3 - 4 muffins each, plus 4x as much mess. Finally get muffins in oven. Herd scattering children back into the kitchen for clean up detail - assign each of them a dishtowel and a bowl to dry. Clean up after the 'clean up'. Bake for 18 minutes - watch "Schoolhouse Rock" with kids, and LJ quietly.
