*ARGH* Stupid, mean, rude people

So, I stop at the convenience store today on the way home from taking my daughter to the doctor and this man behind me mutters something incoherent. I turned and ask "Pardon?" ... he says "don't mind me, I was just talking to myself". I replied ... "oh, that's okay, I talk to myself all the time". So, I turn back around to complete my purchase and the man behind me takes a few steps forward, grabs my very long braid (knee-length) and say "Man, if I had a pair of scissors *snip*snip*SNIP*" as he's making snipping motions with his other hands. Without hesitating I turned around and said "you'd be dead before my hair would even hit the floor" and turned around and walked out.

WTF?! What on earth possesses people to be so ugly - so mean spirited?! What an asshole. First off, I don't like random people grabbing my hair, second - I don't know what would possess someone to say that -- not the typical "why don't you donate it", nothing *argh*
