"Life is not measured ..."

I've had 2 of those moments in the last 24 hours.
Yesterday while driving up Rt.123 and thinking about 9/11 and life since then - I saw a man in the median strip standing atop the trunk of his car waving a large american flag from side to side. He was wearing a red tshirt that simply said "Navy" on it. It brought me to tears.
The next moment came today while driving up to a client appt in Alexandria, VA. The directions she gave included driving up the George Washington Parkway along the Potomac. Something, that in the 17 years I have lived here, I have never done ...until today. And it was breathtakingly gorgeous. Beautiful blue sky, warm sun, green grass, cool air and all that water. I forsee some afternoon going up there to study with a picnic lunch.
