The waiting game
Apr. 22nd, 2009 12:33 pmSometimes the hardest part of my job is to wait. To be patient and let nature take it's course.
Last night around 12:40 one of my clients called to let me know he water had broken but she was not having contractions. We told her to go to bed and see what happened in the morning. Well, still no contractions to speak of.
I've been home all morning puttering and waiting for the phone to ring. Trying to figure out if I'll need to get a babysitter to pick up my kids from school ....trying to figure out if I need to rush to the birth center before traffic gets really bad ...
And still we wait.

I love this ad
Apr. 22nd, 2009 02:47 pmThanks to
mokie_sassafras for this link from Birth Activist. It is a spanish commercial for a bed company called "Flex".
This video features a real homebirth as part of the commercial. Their slogan is “Tu cama, el lugar más importante del mundo,” or “Your bed, the most important place in the world.” .
Here's the link from YouTube ... I guess some folks might now want to view this at work. But it's well worth the view
I'm not saying homebirth has to be for everyone ... but it's nice to see it treated normally.
