Make a custom Friends group here:
http://www.livejournal.com/friends/editgroups.bml
And then, when you post, you can select to post only to that group.
You can also select to read only that group if you so wish as well. I have about 15 filters set up this way, some for posting to, some for selected reading groups, etc.
