A new day

I did manage to drag myself out of bed again this morning

Up at 6am - after a terrible night of downright depressing dreams ... one involving someone/something trying to get into the house and Q not waking up to investigate. The last dream I was giving a eulogy at a funeral ~bleh~ So, after only sleeping in 2 hour spurts, the temptation to stay in bed was strong, but I got up anyway.

Yesterday, I did the first Tae Bo tape. This morning I did the first DVD from "The Firm" (yes, I have an assload of this stuff collected over the years) Only made it through 43 minutes, and didn't get to the Abs portion, but I was sweating quite a bit and my legs and ass are still tingling from the workout. If I'm really motivated I'll try and finish the rest of the DVD this afternoon.

Breakfast was 8oz tomato juice and 1/2 cup of egg beaters. The trip to the market never happened yesterday - so the plan is to shop this morning. My list is extensive, hopefully this will carry me through the rest of the week. Dinner tonight comes from the new South Beach "Quick and Easy" cookbook (no meal takes longer than 30 min. to make). The recipe is "Indian Chicken" - made with light coconut milk, garlic, ginger, curry and cauliflower. Oh, I guess I should eat lunch too ... yesterday was also a Phase 1 "Crab & Avocado Salad" .. it was delicious.

Still haven't had a smoke though. And I'm thinking I need an exercise or "strong" icon or two.

I have a fool proof "stop smoking" plan

I made the offer to a couple of co-workers who were lamenting their lack of will power ...

The plan itself is simple, but highly effective: I follow the smoker around for 30 days (even setup shop to live with them). They are allowed to light up as many cigarettes as possible during the 30 days ... but I get to then put them out using a shovel. I guarantee at the end of 30 days, a cigarette will be the LAST thing the person would want.

Now, I would in no way derive any pleasure whacking YOU in the face with a shovel to put out a cigarette (there are others however that would make this scenario VERY satisfying). I'm just informing you there are drastic plans available should one choose to go the extreme route.

I am happy you are rocking and rolling on this on your own ...

This reminds me of an episode I once saw on one of the Sci-Fi type shows like (but not) the Twilight Zone. The guy hired a company to help him quit smoking. I don't remember how they did it, but it was with consequences such as this. When he started to gain weight because he had quit smoking they threatened to cut off the wife's little finger. He didn't believe they would do it until he went to dinner at a friends house, and realized that HIS wife had her little finger cut off.

Darn, now I wish I could remember what show that was.

hey ... I remember that ...

James Woods was the guy who wanted to stop smoking ... when the company caught him smoking, they kidnapped his wife, put her in a cage, and then electrified the floor to make her dance ... warned him of more dire consequences if he continued lighting up ...

This particular episode was part of a trilogy ... had a cat wandering about somehow related to all 3 stories ...

Yay Southbeach!

I am about to hop back onto that here soon, as soon as I can get my academic legs under my again.

Do you like the Quick and Easy cookbook, or is this the first recipe that you are trying?

It sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the awesome work!!

You're doing much better than I!

I wouldn't worry too much about "only" 43 minutes. 20 or 30 minutes a day should be more than sufficient for someone at the beginning of a trainin program.

You are doing GREAT!!! It's hard, but as AA says, one day--and sometimes one moment--at a time. {{hugs}}

South Beach is a good plan, my husband has had great luck with it. I'm very pleased for you, hon, with the not smoking thing. Yay for you. Keep it up!

I took pics of my pedicure yesterday. I guess I need to make an icon or two.

The braces are bugging me, but I'm dealing. :D Pics are on my eljay if you'd like to see em.
