after many weeks of mad sewing for Camp, my serger bit it about 10 minutes
ago. Fortunately, I had just finished my beautiful see-through chemise.....unfortunately
I still have a couple more things I want to make *sigh*

And, of course, the remaining question -- is it cheaper to get it fixed, or replace it?

Broke how? Broke like engine not going, or broke like engine going but needles all out of whack?

broke as in one of the dials fell off - some part on the inside (inaccessable) and some on the outside.

Ack. But... sounds fixable, assuming no missing parts.

Have fun this weekend. You coming to the wedding?

We'll be there for the ceremony, but then are heading back right after.

I would guess you could take it to a shop and ask for an estimate. If it's a serger I can't imagine it would be cheaper to buy a new one. While the repair work is probably great, the bloody things cost a forture.

(I'm jelous!)

it may cost you ~$100 to fix... but it will cost you *several* hundred to replace.

go for an estimate. trust me.

The estimate costs $25 - I think ... and I don't know that this place does sergers. The next nearest place is in Springfield .. about 20 to 25 min. away.

Crapcrapcrap....can't hurt to get an estimate - may wind up being cheaper.

Missed you at AWP...

I probably will, but damn ... and yes, I missed you to, but word had it you went home Saturday morning and left Irish Guy and Angel holding down the pavillion. Are you coming to War? Did you check out the gas line thing?

Friday when the storm hit, we decided the better part of keeping our son alive was to bug out. Found a hotel for the night, then packed up (with Angel & IG) Saturday morning, then headed out. Watching [livejournal.com profile] much_ado's pavillion almost crash down gave me a bad scare (we were hiding inside it at the time).

War is going to be a touch&go thing - if the weather report is bad, we're not coming, if it isn't, then we'll be there.

Gas line - yah - means some rearranging, but I suspect it's a pretty easy fix.

Well, of course, your see-through chemise will be beautiful, you'll be in it right? ;-)

FWIW, I'd been told that with sewing machine and serger repairs it all depends on who's doing it. Get some good recommendations and give it a try.

Me, oh my, I recall how pleased you were when you first got that beastie.
