On South Beach, but not in Miami
Sep. 2nd, 2004 01:59 pmand it's a good thing to based on the current forcast for Hurricane Frances. I have friends and family along that area, and I hope they have heeded the warnings and headed for higher ground.
As for South Beach (eating plan), the initial carb-deprivation-gonna-chew-off-my-arm phase has passed as well as my late night got to have something to eat cravings. My clothes already feel looser, although I could just be delusionary, and the scale reports progress in the downward direction ~yay~ I'm also proud to report that I haven't given in to the stress induced must-eat-something-sweets, although the temptation is there. I've lowered my goals substantially to something obtainable (20 lbs) although nowhere near where I'm hoping to be in the long run (total goal 45 to 50lbs). I keep setting my sights so far ahead, I lose sight of the more immediate benefits, then I get discouraged and just give up. I faithfully read
mellyflori "boring, healthy shit" posts because they help keep me motivated. She and
wilfulcait are my local inspirations :)
I'm enjoying the last days of summer. This week we're trying to accomplish the rest of my daughter T's summer list We didn't quite accomplish the 'larn to swim' but everything else was checked off, including an impromptu trip to Chuck E Cheese while it rained Monday. Today was a library day, which everyone adores. T acquired her own library card (because "I'm almost 7 Mommy, and I can write my own name"), she checked out 4 books, all of which will be finished by tomorrow or the next day. M & S did puzzles and then picked books and I went hunting for a book I'm going to add to my Amazon list The Not So Big House They didn't have that specific one in today, but I picked up another one of her's and intended on daydreaming my house into perfection.
*ackk* I should study -- last night in lab we loaded and unloaded the ambulance, did carries of various stretchrs and chairs and worked with oxygen tanks last night -- except when the instructor asked for the flow parameters of different types of masks, I didn't know any of them! BTW it's 1 to 6 for a nasal canula, 10 to 15 for a bag and mask, and 10 to 15 for a non-rebreather. Off to go bury my head.
