A whistle at the 'stop' ...
Sep. 7th, 2004 10:18 amToday school started for A and T. A was up at 6:15, so around 6:30, I dragged myself out of bed so I could make her a cup of tea and a little breakfast. She was a bit surprised to see me knocking around the kitchen and told me I didn't have to get up, but I've never missed being with her (in some form or another) for her first day of school and I wasn't about to miss it. It's hard to believe she's in 8th grade! Years ago, when she was smaller, I said I could never imagine what she was going to be like at 10, 12 .. and in about 8 weeks, she'll be 14... wow, just saying that makes my head spin a little. We nattered around for a bit, chatting, eating our breakfast. By 7am the phone rang, my overdue client thinking that she had contractions (please wait until I get them both in school ... she did!). A out the door to catch the bus at 7:25 - T, M & S finding their clothes and heading downstairs.
Then the morning slipped into high gear - doing breakfasts and juice - doing chores. Getting everyone seated and doing their hair while they're at the table. It all actually went relatively smoothly. T and I left the house at 8:25 to walk to her first day of 1st grade (all day school, this is strange since the last 3 years she's been part time) and that's when I heard _ the whistle at the "stop" blown by the crossing guard. It really is school again.
The rest of this morning has been a little less chaotic. M's new pre-school teacher came for her visit today.. it went well, and I know both M & S are looking forward to pre-school. The house is quieter too -- I didn't realize how much so until you take T out of the mix. With just the 2 short ones left, there's seems to be a little less drama. Of course, I don't expect that to last.
Off to fall camp in a couple of days - lab Wed night and I really need to study this week, we have a test on chapters 1,2,3,4,6 & 7 on Monday *argh*
