Moments of pure bliss
Apr. 25th, 2005 10:15 amwith my kids ...
With A, my 14 year old daughter....we watched G.I. Jane together. I love showing her movies where women do not play conventional roles. Her favorite scene she mentioned, is the montage of Jordan working out and getting stronger. Says we should own it so she can get inspired for wrestling again next year. And of course, the infamous line in the middle of the movie where she tells the CO to 'suck my d*ck' - A literally jumped off the couch cheering.
With T (7yrs) this weekend - running errands with me out to Kinko's and Borders. Having her ask me what my favorite books are - I recommended Roald Dahl's "The Witches" since she's already read 3 or his other books.
With M (5) - having her stop in the middle of running through the kitchen as I'm coming up the basement stairs, throw her arms around me and kiss me right smack on the lips. While this doesn't sound unusual, M is not given much to spontaneous moments of affection like that, so it was sweet.
With S (3.5yrs) - coming home on Saturday night and putting her to bed - after the lights are out I sing 2 songs of her choosing - she reached out to touch me in the dark. Her hand just stroking my knee. So I put my hand down and she grabbed it with both her hands and held it to her cheek. I was singing ( Baby Mine ) and I was so taken by this one moment that my breath caught and I felt the tears in my eyes ... it was just so wonderful ...
