Between replacing the water heater yesterday and fixing the washing machine today - we're woefully shorter financially than I thought we would be. This was just not the right month for this ... *sigh*

isn't that just the way? *sigh*

sorry to hear it - financial worry is NOT supposed to be part of the festive holiday season.

There are few things more annoying than household appliances that know just when to kick the bucket. Damn.

Did you hear from them yet?

You saw the letter I put up from Laura yesterday. That's the most recent word. I'm waiting until afternoon (12:01) to bug her again.

This is making me a little nuts.

If it's not one damn thing, it's another, expecially when it comes to appliances.

*nod* Hits like this come in strings, just ride through them and dip into either credit or reserves. With Q working you should be able to get out of the hole.

Speaking of which, why did you have to replace the heater. I *have* to get mine replaced (it's 12 years old and a 7 year unit) but I keep stalling.

The "dip tube" which is the plastic tube inside the water heater was disintergrating and causing white plastic bits to go through the plumbing and clog things up - in particular the kitchen sink was the work. Finally a big enough piece got clogged in the pipes coming to the kitchen sink and slowed the water down to all but a trickle which was impossible to do dishes in, or fill a pot for that matter. It's been needing replaced for over a year but we kept putting it off. The kitchen sink was the last straw because we do everything at the sink.

The old one was built in 95 - and the dip tubes from '92 to '96 in most models were the problem because they had tried to use a diffent kind of plastic.

What are the issues with your unit?

No issues actually; it's working fine. The only noticable problem is a bit of rust on the top where a leaky valve dripped years ago but that's it.

However being 12+ years old it could probably fail at any time. Which would be a pretty wet mess to be honest. So I think I'll go to Sears tomorrow and get a new one on order.

My sympathies! Christmas seems to attract financial crises.

I totally love the Alice icon - that's perfect for how I'm feeling.

Oh, and I enjoyed meeting you too, doll. That chinese dress you wore last was fantastic :)

Meh! I'm hoping all our appliances will hold out until after I've managed to pay off the new wedding rings and the new collection of "Toys". This stuff is expensive!
