With all due respect to the late Mr. James Brown -- that's the song in my head at the moment.

So, I just got off the treadmill and I don't have a clever cut name for it, like my lovely wife [livejournal.com profile] ani_moore of the "gym shorts" or my lovely [livejournal.com profile] mellyflori with the "B & H" (boring and healthy) ... so help me with a clever name, k?! Until then -- I give you

Okay, one thing I have discovered is that watching TV while walking/running on the treadmill does not encourage me to work harder -- so this morning I put on the Ipod. Here is the playlist and the stats from this mornings workout:

Playlist (with nods to [livejournal.com profile] much_ado for her disco inspirations)
You Sexy Thing - Hot Chocolate
Shake your Groove Thing - Peaches and Herb
Knock on Wood - Amii Stewart
Bad Girls - Donna Summers
We are Family - Sister Sledge
Celebration - Kool and the Gang
It's Raining Men - The Weather Girls (sang this one loud!)
Fresh - Kool & the Gang

The timing was about right for the pre-select program I choose... and I moved and sang the whole time (not that I wasn't breathy or sweating, but I tried) :)

Total time: 30 minutes
Highest Incline: 6
Fastest Speed: 4 mph
Total Carbs burned: 31
Calories burned: 227
Total Miles: 1.71

My food choices were for crap yesterday - I'm 3 days into this and sabotaguing myself - but I'm back on track this morning. Smoking is still less than 6 a day, and working towards cutting it out all together. When I'm stressed and my loves and I are sniping, it easily leads to poor choices, I'm gonna have to work on that one.

So, what are you all up to? Anyone got some work out/weight loss/strong body icons they want to give a girl?

wOOt for the 1.71 miles and singing while you were walking! At 4mph, I'm at a steady jog, so je suis impressed, lady.

I'm cutting back on the smokes too, even now that the daughter is headed back home, so we can help each other on that front, k?

and get back on the healthy eating wagon. Its was a lapse, not a relapse. be strong.

You can have this one!

Glad to hear of your positive progress. It's not easy; if it were we'd all be lean and strong and well-nourished and smoke-free.

I named my elliptical machine Harold. So now, when I'm exercising... I'm on Harold.

Probably sometime after midnight. I'm hoping to hit the road around 4, but who knows with Jamie. I'll call when I'm close. When will you be there?

"This weight was made for walking" (though long)

"Walk Talk"

"Run with it"

"Moving off" (the weight) or "Moving on" (the muscle)

You can always go on Getty images, search for keywords that would work. (fitness, etc) and then use paint.net to make your own icons. It's a freeware program that works like Adobe.

I understand the sabotage part. I got home from work yesterday and the first things I did? Had a tablespoon of peanut butter. Now for some that's not too bad, but at 6gm of carbs, that was too much for so little enjoyment. I'm only supposed to have about 30 total grams of carbs per day if I want to loose weight. I've gained some over the holidays and I want to get back into my goal range.

But, I'm back on track today.

It's also great that you're working out more. I've finally gotten back to the gym. I got some money for the winter holiday and I'm going to get with a personal trainer at my gym for a few sessions to get me back on track there.

The weekday's when I can't hit the gym, I'm committing to going for a walk at lunch. I generally do about 1.6 miles in 30 minutes. Yep, I was out to day in 36 degree temperatures. Got warm after the first mile. That was good. Listened to Cher for my walk. She's got good tempo's for walking at a good clip.

Er...forgot to include...I am doing the stop smoking thing too...I can walk fast on treadmill without wheezing, but once I start to run I am toast.
So, smoking is just getting in the way, plus the Amoureux doesn't smoke and I wanna definitely spend more time with him...not smoking.

it's really hard to break the habit of eating as a way to comfort yourself, or as a way to quell boredom. I fight with it all the time.

Good job on the workout!

"working it" "Mym Moves!"

I just bought a pair of sneakers, therby removing my last excuse for not going to the Gym. *twitch*
