Stupid home ownership ... stupid overflowing toliet.

Now there's a leak in my basement bedroom ceiling coming at a constants drip and I don't know if I have f*cked up pipes or not.

F*CK!

So I guess you won't be tying anyone to the toilet any time soon?

Yeah, that really sucks, no? I will be doing my plumbing tonight.

If the toilet just overflowed badly chances are there aren't any problems with the pipes. It will take awhile for any water that seeped below the floorboards and into the insulation, wood, and dry wall to drip out. It will actually take a few days, up to a week, for all of it to dry out. I would suggest a fan in the bedroom and a dehumidfier if you have one.

I'm sorry your having troubles babe, I can relate though. I love you, and will talk to you later. *hug*

Welcome to my world. I'm dealing with a mystery leak myself. Isn't home ownership fun?

Well, the plumber got here and discovered that the gaskets underneath the tank were done and it was leaking from the bolts. He says he thinks the seal around the bottom of the toliet is fine.

We'll see how the ceiling and dripping goes for the next 24 to 48 hours.

Thank heavens I live on a slab. Besides, as bad as my joints are getting (too much abuse as a kid and too much weight 10 years ago), climbing up and down stairs every day would sooo suck.

If you haven't thought about it yet, consider one of those after-market home warranties. You can get plans that will cover most of your major appliances and things like this.
