Migraine vs. [livejournal.com profile] make_your_move. And the winner was ...

Migraine. Complete light sensitivity, vomit-inducing, praying-for-death pain and a trip to the ER yesterday. After waiting 3+ hours and not being seen, we came home and I spent the rest of the day in bed. I'm ashamed and disgusted with our healthcare system. My deepest thanks to my wife [livejournal.com profile] bittibuddha who came at a moments notice to take care of the kids. And even more grateful thanks to my hubby [livejournal.com profile] lapsedagnostic for not leaving my side and petting and kissing my head as lightly possible all day yesterday.

Today I'm barely mobile, still have a headache and the nausea and if I move to fast the world spins a little. But I'm up and moving slowly, and grateful to not be in excruciating pain.

wow, talk about teh suck esp the ER part.

Glad you are on the road to recovery.

BTW I noted your daughter friended me on LJ. I haven't posted anything interesting in some time. Recommendations on friending her back?

You're welcome to friend (or not) her back as you wish. You're one of the people I know is 'safe' (in terms of my trust level).

She's also 18 and knows about my/our life so she's certainly safe for a poly filter. Other ones are up to you. It would be nice to know what you've included her in, but it's a request, not a requirement.

Thanks for asking.

I'll put her on my friend filter.
Poly and kink are the same filter. Some folks for both.

Those are the only 2 filters I have really, not that I post all that much. Thanks for letting me know.

Mike and I have been trading migraines this week. So sorry you're feeling this. Take good care of you, lovely.

When I used to get migraines (which fortunately stopped with menopause), an injection of Imitrex would have me feeling much better within half an hour, and completely well within a couple of hours. (The oral form of Imitrex is useless; if you are vomiting or even having nausea, it will not be absorbed.) In those days, I had a prescription for Imitrex injections, so I could give them to myself at home.

Anyway, glad to hear you are feeling at least somewhat better today.

Ow. {{hug}} I know a fellow-Chirugeon who had an Imitrex auto-injector at Pennsic. Looked like a somewhat Star-Trekkier version of the military airgun jobs.

Another friend pretty much had to use Phenergan, because she couldn't hold anything down during an attack.

I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling horribly. I've come to really dislike the US medical care system. Hope you're feeling better soon! Hugs and virtual tea from Me.

Dude...the migraines are going around. I don't know where you live, but hit me up, we need to swap contact info anyway. You know I work at a local ER right? It doesn't always work, but I can sometimes work to at least get people pain relief while waiting to see the doctor. Let's get in touch, maybe I can help next time.
