"Which direction are we headed Mr. Peabody?" (extra credit to those to get the reference)

Last night da' hubby [livejournal.com profile] lapsedagnostic and I took awhile and went back in time. More specifically back in time via old Livejournal posts. We both started our LJ's back in 2003. It was interesting to watch the evolution of our lives and relationships going through our archives. How we're doing, the state of our poly lives, the kids and various vacations, anniversaries and birthdays are there. It was weird .. and funny ... and thoughtful. I guess it's really true that every once in a while you have to look back to see how far you've come.

I realized I started posting less around the time of [livejournal.com profile] wilfulcait's last few months. Life was too raw, too real for me to want to post about it. But I've realized there's a lot of things I'm missing - and I think I want that to change. Of course I come to this realization a week before I leave for Pennsic - a time of being away from the computer. *gah* Yeah, I am a great big dork.

Expect that there might be more posts this week.

Yeah, looking back a few years ago at my LJ, in some ways, I was more the person I want to be. In some other ways, I have advanced and grown, but sometimes we see the things we miss.

And yes, I will take the extra credit on that one. Mr Peabody was a white dog with black rimmed glasses.

I haven't completely done that, but I need to. I did use the downloader thing to get the posts off of LJ, and have them saved by years. I can't believe I've been posting since 2003, too. That is a LONG time! I've had ups and downs, like you, but I miss having the time to really connect with my friends.

Every couple of years, I go back and re-read from the beginning. I've a LOT of random memes without a lot of content in the first few months/years -- and nearly no memes at all in the last few.

And yeah - it's not hard to tell where the periods of other upheaval (or video game addiction, or new jobs with no outside net-access) are in our lives based on where/when/how often we post.

And for the geeky extra credit, I'll point folks over to the Internet Wayback Machine.
