Last night [livejournal.com profile] lapsedagnostic and I saw the musical "Wicked" at the Kennedy Center as our (late) 15th anniversary present. It was awesome! The stage had a beautiful map of OZ as the curtain and the biggest mechanical dragon above the stage I've seen. Both leads that played Elphaba and Glinda (the Guuuuuh is silent *lol*) were amazing. I don't know which performance this was for them, but it might as well of been their first. The energy and joy they put into their performance was transporting.... it made being in Oz a believable experience.

Other than the song "Defying Gravity" - this isn't the kind of musical where the music leaves you humming along after - but the songs are an integral part of the story and how it moves along. The characters were all strong as were the actors that played them.

Given the chance, I would see it again in a heartbeat :) If you can find the tickets and the time ... I highly recommend seeing it before it leaves the DC area.

Oh, if you get the soundtrack, you'd be surprised how many of those songs can stick in your head. :)

I'm glad you both enjoyed it! [livejournal.com profile] thunderbird1956 and I really enjoyed it when we say it in July.

I find myself humming the song Popular more than I'd like.

See for me it's "No one mourns the wicked" and "what is this feeling?" that stick with me.

I meant to look for tickets when I got home from Pennsic and forgot. I looked last night and the only ones that were left for the run cost $250. Oh well maybe next year.

My wife and I saw Wicked when it was up in Syracuse. I agree - it was awesome, and I highly recommend it.

I saw you had posted on a friends blog. Sorry, I can't remember which one off the top of my head. But I checked out your journal as well. Also quite distracting. :)
